Kerala Bar Council Bars Lawyer Accused Of Assaulting Lady Advocate From Appearing Before Any Forum Till Disciplinary Case Is Decided

The Bar Council of Kerala in its meeting conducted on Wednesday (May 14) has decided to restrict Advocate Beyline Das from appearing before any court, Tribunal or authority pending disciplinary proceedings against him.
The decision comes a day after Das was suspended from the Trivandrum Bar Association for allegedly assaulting his junior lady advocate. The police have registered a case against him under Sections 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 74 (assault or criminal force to woman) and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) of BNS. Subsequent to the suspension, a report was sent from Trivandrum Bar Association seeking disciplinary action against Das.
In today's meeting, the State Bar Council have decided to initiate suo-motu disciplinary proceedings against the advocate and issue a show cause notice to him. The restriction on practice is put on the advocate till the finalization of the disciplinary proceedings
