Former Chief Justice Of India DY Chandrachud Joins NLU Delhi As Distinguished Professor
Former Chief Justice Of India Justice DY Chandrachud has joined National Law University (NLU) Delhi as a Distinguished Professor.
“From landmark judgments on privacy, LGBTQ+ rights, and gender justice to his pioneering work on digital freedoms and judicial reforms, his presence will profoundly enrich our academic ecosystem. Now, his wisdom will directly fuel NLU Delhi's mission to build a more just and equitable legal system”, a press release issued by NLU Delhi stated.
According to the press release, a dedicated Centre for Constitutional Studies will be established at NLU Delhi as part of the collaboration. Justice Chandrachud will be guiding research at the centre. Additionally, the university announced the launch of a lecture series “In the Spirit of Justice: The DYC Distinguished Lecture Series” beginning in July 2025.
Vice Chancellor Professor GS Bajpai said that Justice Chandrachud's work in areas such as constitutional morality, transformative constitutionalism, and the interpretation of fundamental rights will provide substantial material for academic exploration.
“Justice Chandrachud's legacy in constitutional morality, transformative constitutionalism, and dynamic interpretation of fundamental rights offers unparalleled empirical and doctrinal material for academic inquiry”, he said.
