The Delhi High Court has issued summons to YouTuber and commentator Ajeet Bharti in a defamation suit filed by “The Frustrated Indian” media company.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav also issued notice on the interim injunction application moved by TFI Media Private Limited and sought Bharti's response.
The Frustrated Indian has filed the suit being aggrieved by various tweets made by Bharti, alleging that they are defamatory.
In the interim, the suit sought taken down of the two tweets which were posted on X Corp (formerly Twitter) on March 22 and March 23. Advocate J Anant Dehadrai appeared for TFI Media and submitted that the posts constituted defamation by Bharti and was causing great prejudice to the media company.
He also submitted that TFI Media, very politely, even responded to one of the tweets and requested Bharti not to make any baseless assertions.
While issuing notice on interim injunction plea, the Court said that the prayer for grant of interim injunction shall be considered after the notice is served on the other side.
The matter is now listed on July 07.
Notably, both the tweets which formed part of interim injunction plea have been deleted from Bharti's X handle.
While issuing summons in the suit, the Court directed Bharti to file written submissions within 30 days and listed the suit for hearing on September 22.
