The Delhi High Court has granted relief to a widow and ordered status quo on her property in city's Batla House area facing demolition.

Vacation judge, Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, listed the matter on July 10 while asking the authorities to maintain status quo on her property.

The petitioner, Ishrat Jahan, moved court challenging the demolition order issued by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on May 26, in respect of her residential premises situated at Batla House, Jamia Nagar, Khasra No. 283.

In the interim, she sought stay on the demolition action as well as a direction on the authorities to not take any coercive action in respect of her property.

The counsel appearing for DDA stated that an affidavit will be filed setting out the proposed action to be taken in respect of the various properties demarcated in the Batla House area, including the property of the widow.

It was submitted that the demarcation report may be sought from the office of the Deputy Director in respect of the various properties against which demarcation action needs to be taken in terms of an order passed by the Supreme Court on May 07.

DDA's counsel said that an affidavit will be filed within three weeks. The Court said that any objections to the same shall be filed within a period of one week thereafter.

Counsel for Petitioner: Mr. Fahad Khan, Adv
